Taiyaki is a Japanese fish-shaped pastry made with waffle or pancake batter. The most common filling is red bean paste that is made from sweetened azuki beans. Other common fillings are custard, chocolate, and cheese.
This unique pan makes two fish shaped cakes approx 5 x 3" in size.
Material: Aluminum (pan) and Plastic (Handle)
Dimensions(inches): 5.5 x 6 x 1.5" (Pan); 5 1/2" Long (Handle)

2 cups wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
1 cup water
6 ounces azuki beans, mashed and mixed with enough sugar to form a thick sweet paste vegetable oil
Instructions:
1. Stir flour, water, salt, and sugar thoroughly. Add baking soda.
2. Heat the taiyaki pan on both sides briefly on low heat so it is warm.
3. Oil the pan, making sure to get within the crevices and pour the batter into the pan filling it half way.
4. Put azuki beans in the center of the batter
5. Pour additional batter over the filling
6. Close the pan and heat both sides turning over at regular intervals.
7. Remove from heat and cool briefly before removing from pan.
